Biosolids Give-Away

The District produces approximately 2,500 dry tons of biosolids product per year.   The product is made available to municipalities and the public through the District's give-away program.  Generally, biosolids are available from April through August.  Once the year's supply has been given away another batch will not be available until the spring of the following year.

Biosolids are given away and loaded at no cost.  Load sizes are limited to pick-up trucks or smaller unless special authorization is given.

Biosolids

Product Information:

Biosolids is a term describing a product which has been prepared, partially or wholly, from municipally derived sludges for benificial use and an organic soil amendment and fertilizer.  Because biosolids are naturally derived, there will be variations in the nutrient content from batch to batch.  The sale and distribution of biosolids are regulated by the EPA.  This product carries no expressed or implied guarantees.  Proper application and use are the responsibility of the user.

Approximate Nutrient Content:

Nitrogen: 0.5-4%
Phosphorus: 0.5-4%
Potassium: Less than 1%
Micronutrients: Contains iron, zinc, selenium, and copper

Directions for Use:

The biosolids product should be incorperated into soil with shovel, tiller, or similar device.  Excessive application rates (greater than 1-inch depth) may contribute to plant burning.  As with any soil amendment or fertilizer product, wash hands after using biosolids.  The use of this product for any purpose other than soil amendment and fertilizer is prohibited.
