Position: Maintenance Mechanic I or Maintenance Mechanic II

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing; ability to develop working relationships with supervisors and co-workers.
• Considerable knowledge of plant policies and procedures.
• Must be a self- starter, know and understand safety policies and procedures, promote a safety culture, possess a thorough knowledge and demonstrate the ability to effectively troubleshoot and repair mechanical equipment.
• Thorough knowledge of the fundamentals of machinery operation and technical competency for specific treatment plant equipment in operation at the District’s facilities including its maintenance, repair, and how to perform complete rebuilds.


Minimum Requirements:
• Graduation from high school or GED equivalent.
• Graduation from an accredited Technical College in one of the following areas,
     a: Welding and Fabrication
     b: Rotating Equipment Reliability
     c: Plumbing, Pipe Fitting, Concrete Work
     d: Diesel or Auto Mechanics
• Minimum of 6 years successful experience in the maintenance and repair of rotating equipment including pumps, blowers, compressors, as well as other equipment utilized in wastewater treatment.
• An equivalent combination of education and experience.

Special Qualifactions:
• Must be able to walk, lift, reach, stoop, stand, grasp, balance, climb, kneel, crouch, and lift up to 75 pounds frequently.
• Basic computer literacy.
• Must possess a valid Utah State driver’s license.
• Must be willing to work on-call, (24-hour), and be able to respond to plant site within 30 minutes of an emergency call out.
• Must be a member of the Emergency Response Team.
